BUT, we did have hot chocolate with it...if that counts for anything!

the chocolate webs were a hit...i'm pretty sure the kids skipped out on the icecream & brownies...

miss emmy with her "de-peanuted" candy. i was very thankful for her cooperation with the whole thing. i'm surprised at how well she understands the fact that certain food will make her sick. thankfully she never puts up a fight at all & zac is always sooo good to keep an extra eye out for food that contains peanuts. it sure makes things a bit easier in times like halloween! :)

this girl is a hoot. she makes us laugh every day & is growing up sooo fast, it's crazy. i still call her my baby, because she is in a sense...even though she is 2 1/2! she's very quick to correct me when i call her ''my baby", by saying, "no. me emmy. me big guu (girl)." we're having a twin bed delivered for her tomorrow...and it makes me sad. i'm realizing that these kids are not going to stop growing up! they change so fast. if anything, it's just a reminder to savor the time i have with them all that much more...

in this picture, she was in perfect position for a cute shot...i asked her to smile, and this is what i got in return...

this fall zac conquered the monkey bars!! it was so fun to watch his persistence come out...he'd try over & over until he got it down. those little accomplishments are so fun to watch and experience...i was so proud! :) and speaking of kids growing up fast...this boy's 5th birthday is monday!! crazy...

it's a...........

so thanks to cousin natalie, we tried something different this time around. instead of finding out what the baby was right then and there at the doctor's office, we had the ultrasound technician call a bakery with the baby's sex...and then we had family over last night to join in on the fun...chad wasn't such a fan of the idea...he really wanted to peak during the ultrasound, but it turned out to be a success!!

cutting the cake...ooooh, what's it gonna be???!!!! should be lots of fun...it's always a party when the field family gets together that's for sure!

anyway, real quick...here's a funny conversation zac and i had last week:

as we're cleaning up blocks in the family room...
zac: "damn, damn, damn, damn. damn, damn, damn, damn."

me: "um zac...that's not the nicest word to be saying. why don't we try saying a nicer word like darn, darn, darn, darn."

zac: "no mom. i'm saying it like beaver dam." (oh, duh.)

me: "oh, i see. well not everyone knows that when you're saying that word that you're meaning a beaver dam. so maybe you should say, 'beaver dam, beaver dam, beaver dam.' because just saying 'dam' is probably not the best choice of words."

zac: "no. i feel like just saying dam. dam, dam, dam, dam. dam, dam, dam, dam."

whatever. i gave up. BUT, he hasn't said it since...so i think he got it out of his system...for now atleast! :)

the "keeping it real 2009" campaign

so pam had a "keeping it real" post on her blog the other day & i loved every bit of it & knew i wanted to join in.

you see, i like interior design...i love looking at & collecting magazines with ideas and inspiration in hopes of one day being able to incorporate some of the ideas into my own home. i love going to the parade of homes every year...for the same reason...inspiration. the only problem with this little passion of mine is this.

so i look at these magazines & go to these home shows and see perfection...literally. i mean everything is beautiful, the beds are perfectly made & don't have wrinkle in them...everything is immaculately cleaned & organized & coordinating...the kitchens have bowls of fresh fruit or freshly baked goodies on the counter...there's fresh flowers in every room, i mean really, everything is just blissful. so of course, i look at these beautiful homes & i think..."i want my house to be and feel like that." and then i want to recreate it in my own house......and i am learning that that is just not realistic. i've had to remind myself that those homes are not lived in. and homes are for living in! yes, i can have a neat & tidy house MOST of the time...but to be cleaning up after my kids ALL day long is not my idea of fun. i'm learning that i'm only going to be in this stage of my life once...and then it's going to be gone & if i don't make the most of it & try to enjoy each day...messy house or not...i'll look back and regret it. i'm learning (slowly but surely) to go with the flow...if things are bit chaotic around the house & the kids want me watch tv with them...but i really have soooo much to do and can't possibly take the time to sit down...i'm learning to SIT DOWN & enjoy a half hour of watching animal planet or whatever we watch. and you know what? everything turns out to be okay. eventually things get put away (it may be days later), but it all gets done, eventually!

so anyway...here's my pictures. now this was my house sunday afternoon after church. yes people, i didn't use saturday as my get ready for sunday day...but that's okay...because sunday was still a great day!

here's our table with a sippy cup full of old milk from the night before & some lovely folded laundry that has a tint of mildew smell to it, seeing as how i left it in the washer for a day too long. BUT there is a solution to that...soak the clothes in the washer for about 30 minutes with a combination of 1 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup baking soda...it works great! trust me...i would know! :)

then we move on to the kitchen floor...emerson's been cooking up a storm in her kitchen & had a hay day. mind you, just after i took these pictures, zac brought me 2 bowls that emerson had stuck in her kitchen's fridge that were full of rotten cucumbers and olives from a week and a half ago. that was a pretty sight...and smell.

the kids' table...and yes it is right in front of the tv, and yes they do eat their meals there, and yes they do watch tv while they're eating.

so here's my magical laundry basket. this thing has come in very handy many times when i'm in a hurry to get things straightened up before someone's coming over. the only problem is that it takes me a week to get it unloaded. so here sits this basket...and this time i did better, it only sat like that for probably 3 days...something to be proud of! :)

i had to laugh to myself the other day when i was thinking back to the first 2 or 3 years of our marriage. every sunday we'd have like a 5 course meal...roast, potatoes, carrots, jello, and rolls. i'd get the table all fancied up and put the food in pretty dishes, it was always something to look forward to. well, life is different now, and we've probably had that meal once this whole year. but there will come a day when i'll have more time and energy to cook bigger meals...but for now, i like simple. it works best for us at the moment...

so i made some progress and cleared off the table for us to eat...and moved the clothes upstairs to my room to join the other clothes that were already draping the chair for a few days....and there they stayed until the next day when i forced myself to get the job done...and i must say...it always feels so good afterwards!

here's the hall closet...as you can tell emerson has definitely been there ripping the toothbrushes out of their package in the process. not sure what she accomplished in all of that, but i'm learning that that's just what 2 year olds do...they like to make messes of anything they can get their hands on. and hey, if it makes her happy...fine. one day i'll have my nice, pretty, perfectly organized closet...but now's not the time for that...at least not for me! :)

<img style="width: 506px; it was so fun to catch up with old friends. crazy how fast time flies! i really wasn't the best picture taker though...but i have a few more that i'll post later on facebook for all you t-birds that want to see more.

<img style="width: 695px; rolling around for miss emerson....we love it!!

<img style="width: 695px; it was soooo bright....like give you a major headache bright. we didn't bring sunglasses for the kids, so they wore ours....here's zac sporting my sunglasses...so funny, but he pulls it off!

<img style="width: 506px; we're just hoping that we can stay healthy from here on out...(cross our fingers!!) and yes this picture is just beautiful of me, workout clothes, greasy hair & all...i know...but it reflects how i've looked probably 60% of the time this month...poor chad!! it sure saves time though!! ;)

<img style="width: 506px; lots of family came & it was definitely a weekend we'll remember. thank you everyone!! instead of doing one gigantic post, i'm going to post a few pictures each day...saves time! i've decided that's why i sometimes dread blogging, because it takes forever because i post so many pictures all at once. so i'm going to try and be a better blogger by simplifying my posts!! we'll see how it goes....

emerson loves animals and even though she still doesn't say many "words" she can make animal noises. so i thought it would be fun to have a little farm birthday for her. in the few weeks working up to her birthday, i'd ask her what kindof birthday she was going to have and she would say "coooowwww-uuh". it was very fun to put together & i'm pretty sure she liked it. so for starters...here's the invite!

...a boise easter...

okay, before i say anything else about going to boise for easter, i have to say this. i never take enough pictures when we go there! and i know it's because grandpa field always has his camera out and is snapping away. so i feel bad that my pictures are lacking when it comes to our time spent with grandma & grandpa field. the kids LOVE going to boise...and it's not hard to figure out why. they are spoiled with love and attention from the moment we get there until the moment we leave. i feel very lucky to have such great grandparents for my kids... :)

saturday there was a neighborhood easter egg hunt...but i don't think i'd really call it a hunt because it was more of an easter egg pick up! i think every egg that emerson found was filled with some sort of peanut-containing candy...bummer! but thank goodness grandma's house was full of other yummy treats, or we would have been in trouble...

zac wasn't buying the idea of the easter bunny being so big, so here's the "someone dressed up as the easter bunny"...

emmy loves her "papa"...

it's always fun to see the smart family when come into town....here's sweet eden...

and little nora kate...they're such cute girls! brynn's been so good to keep him inside during the cold & flu season...so we haven't seen him much until now. zac loves having a baby cousin around...and you really can't blame him!

then we had an easter egg hunt...

followed by decorating easter shaped rice krispies with white chocolate. these are so yummy & it's a fun little spin on the usual cookie decorating. zac loves things like this...he's always so focused & he's always been that way...it's funny to see how kids just come with certain personality traits, because....

emerson on the other hand is much more carefree when doing these sorts of activities...she loves it, but she doesn't have near as much perfectionism in her as zac does.

we dyed easter eggs & fingers...and had so much fun the entire time! we really had so much fun. the kids did great...emerson had her fussy spells on the 3rd & 4th days...but that is to be expected when you're out of your normal routine right?? she wouldn't sit in the stroller...so chad & i definitely got our fair share of exercise in...which really isn't a bad thing, so i couldn't complain too much! all in all, i definitely think that the reality of disneyland exceeded zac's expectations...and he loved it! lots of good memories, that's for sure...

"Autopia" was a big hit with the kids...the second time we rode it, chad let emerson be in control of the steering wheel...she loved it, but i think chad had a headache by the time it was over...she would just go back and forth as fast as she could, hitting the median thing probably a thousand times...so funny. :)

what would we do without our very own tour guide??! for some reason, zac LOVES maps...i think that he feels super smart or extra grown-up when he's looking at them or something...it's so funny to me! even before we left for california, he started asking me if disneyland had a map to look at...as soon as he found the maps at the park, he snatched one up & literally did not put it down. he was actually pretty good at reading it too, when we were planning to go on the teacups, zac pulled out his map and said, "mom, the teacups are through the castle and to the right. see??" and sure enough, he was right!

the best $5 we could have ever spent! emerson saw this minnie phone in the store the first night we were there...and from that point on, carried it everywhere. it was a lifesaver!

we had breakfast with the characters...which was fun...daisy, minnie, lilo, & stitch were there...emerson liked the characters as long as they stayed a good five feet away...once they got closer, she didn't want anything to do with them...that's to be expected with any two year old i think!

nothing like falling asleep on daddy's shoulder. it was so nice to have our hotel so close...chad was able to just take her back for a nap when she got too tired...and that made a huge difference...everyone was happier!

this pineapple icecream outside of the tiki room was delicious!! the perfect treat while we waited.

so one day zac wanted a treat, and i did too. he decided on the icecream sandwich & then i debated about whether or not i should get myself one. but then i remembered that it was zac i was with...the child who has the smallest appetite of anyone i have ever met & who rarely finishes a meal. so i decided to buy only one & then i patiently waited for him to be through...i think he took three bites & was done. so my lucky self got to enjoy the rest!

so for the last two months, zac has been entertained by youtube videos of the disneyland parade...i was starting to get a little worried that he would have no surprises and it wouldn't be quite as fun since he'd already seen everything...but i was wrong. both kids loved the parade. how could they not?! one of the disney workers recommended that we make reservations at the wine trateria...and i'm so glad we did...because we had perfect seats for watching the parade while we ate. definitely something to remember!

i LOVE emmy's expression here...i think it basically sums up her experience of the whole vacation...so much to experience for the first time! :)

and i love zac's happy face here on the roller coaster...he was having a great time! :)

here we are at the character dinner at goofy's kitchen...which was sooo fun! if you have to ever choose between the breakfast and the dinner...definitely do the dinner! you get a lot more one-on-one time with the characters, and the food was super good. :)

so yes, we had lots of fun! and it was the happiest place on earth while we were there...but until next time, we'll try to make 'real life' just as happy! :)

...california bound...

we've decided to take these crazies to disneyland...and we're going tomorrow! zac cannot wait...he's been talking about going since october...and has saved every penny, nickel, dime, & quarter that he finds or earns. he now has somewhere around $45 saved up...so we're heading over to the bank today to get some bills in place of the coins. zac doesn't really understand why...if he could have it his way, he'd be carrying his piggy bank around the entire park...mmmm, i don't think so. i think he has now seen every youtube video about disneyland that there is to see...looked at every picture of every ride and seen every character that we could possibly meet when we get there. he's so funny! i can't wait...

...it's a jeep thing...

the kids were finally able to take the jeep outside for a ride this week. emerson loved tagging along & zac was a very focused driver!
